This 123-hectare (305-acre) park is the largest Markham park. It is bound by thick forest on the southern and eastern edges, with the Rouge River through the middle. The 2.3 kilometres of trails are suitable for walking, jogging and cycling. Milne Park is a stop off point for many migratory birds, and can be best viewed in the early mornings and evenings in spring and fall York Region’s first off-leash park area for dogs existed here as a pilot project from August 1, 2001 to September 1, 2002. Officially closed on July 31, 2003, a permanent Dog Leash-Free area opened at the northwest corner of Miller Avenue and Rodick Road. This park is well used for large group picnics. There is also a new modern picnic shelter that can accommodate 100 people. To reserve your groups’ picnic area and/or the shelter, please contact our Permit Coordinator at 477-7000 ext. 7509 to obtain a permit or download a permit from the website. Fishing is allowed with a MNR fishing permit (available at bait shops and Canadian Tire stores). The park is open for vehicles from 8:00 am until dusk from Victoria Day weekend until Thanksgiving.

The park offers 2.3 kilometres of trails suitable for walking, jogging and cycling as well a beach area. It features 12 picnic areas that accommodate for 50 to 300 people. Special programs are also available through the year such as the Canada Day Celebrations.Mine Park is considered one of the best kept treasure of Markham because it features a variety of plants and wildlife. View every spring and fall, the many migratory birds in the early mornings and evenings as they stop off in Milne Dam Conservation Park. Urban fishing is a popular recreation activity in the Rouge River of the park. A MNR fishing permit is required and available at Canadian Tire stores or bait shops.
Milne Park now charges admission per person. $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors and children 16 or under are free. The park is also accessible by the public transit of York Region and TTC.The park can be used for large picnic functions. A new modern picnic shelter is available to accommodate up to 100 people. There are full service washrooms available.
